Juniors make winning start in Cretty

Ballylinan Junior footballers got off to a winning start last night the 18th April 2013 after a two point victory away to Crettyard.

Ballylinan 2-09
Crettyard 2-07

This was far from an ideal night for football as a gale force wind blow in favour of Ballylinan in the first half but we were slow to take advantage going in at half time with a slight lead. It did not look good for the second half but the lads dug deep and managed to fashion a two point win to get our league campaign off to the best possible start.

Ballylinan were greatly helped by Ian Coleman in goals, Jimmy Rowan and Jobie Brophy in defence and Larry Kealy put in a great shift in the middle of the field gaining a large amount of primary possession with some great high fielding. The forward division had Emmett Doyle and Cathal Fennessy adding pace and energy to the wings and Aidan Walsh at full forward who caused havoc in the Crettyard defence when he received early ball and contributed 2-03 to the Ballylinan total.

Next up is a home game to Colt on Sunday 21st April 2013 at 6pm.

Ballylinan; Ian Coleman, Noel Buckley, Marc Garrett, Jimmy Rowan, Jobie Brophy, Padraig Brandon, Ray Hickey, Larry Kealy (0-01), Liam Kealy, Emmett Doyle (0-03, 2f), Brian McEvoy (0-01), Cathal Fennessy, Michael Kelly, Aidan Walsh (2-03), Alan Higgins. Subs – Darren Burke (0-01) for R.Hickey, Brian McEvoy for Alan Higgins.

Ref; Clifford Ward (Portarlington)
